If you have many User Accounts in your Windows 7 PC, you might have come across scenarios of forgetting passwords. Chances of forgetting password is more for an account used intermittently. To get rid of this problem, you can create a Password Reset Disk, using which you can reset and login to an forgotten password account.

You can create a USB Flash Drive / CD / Floppy disc to create “Password Reset Disk”. Follow the steps to create "Password Reset Disk"

  1. Login to Windows using the account for which you want to create reset disk.
  2. Insert the media in which you want to use. For example we use USB Pen drive.

  3. Click “Start” –> Control Panel –> User Accounts
  4. And click on “Create a password reset disk” link in the left pane.

  5. This will take you to a “Forgotten Password Wizard”. Then click “Next”.

  6. Use drop down list and select the media. Click “Next”.

  7. Type the password associated with the account. Click “Next”.

    8. Windows will take a while for creating the disk.

    9. After the process is complete, click “Finish” button.
Keep the drive/disk in a safe place. You can use it anytime you forget the password.

To reset the password, plug-in the device during account logon and click “reset password” option. You will be taken through a password reset wizard in which you can reset the password and logon to the account.
